Liam Griffiths Boxer Profile

I’ll Never forget the thrill of walking into a boxing gym for the first time. It was at Portsmouth Stacey and I was a bundle of nervous, excited energy as I laced up the gloves, hit the punch bags and stepped up for my a sparring session.

It was a similar story when I climbed through the ropes for my amateur debut – a victory at the Moneyfields club in Pompey – and then again when I had my first professional fight. It was against Adam Little under the famous Blackpool Tower in front of one of my heroes, the awesome Ricky Hatton.

I love boxing, it is my lifelong passion, and I have worked as a personal trainer, ring announcer, referee and after-dinner compere interviewing boxing A-listers including Joe Calzaghe and Billy Joe Saunders.

Now I am enjoying the same adrenaline rush as I type out my first column for KnockedOut – our stylish, hard hitting, powerful website which aims to highlight the very best action and stories from the best sport in the world.

I’m still an active professional out and about on the road and I will be giving you all the news and views as well as interviews with my fellow professionals as we embark on an amazing journey to the top.
